Wins International Master, Norm Young Chess Athlete Fostered by United Tractors FM Aditya Bagus Arfan Has Made Achievement at the 2022 Bangkok Open

Chiang Mai, December 1^st,2022 – Indonesia has a myriad of athletes who can compete and make the nation proud on the international stage. This time, came from an international chess event. A  young Indonesian chess player fostered by PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) Fide Master (FM) Aditya Bagus Arfan won his first International Master (IM) norm at the 2022 Bangkok Open chess championship from 22 to 30 October 2022, at the Shangri-La Hotel, Chiang Mai , Thailand. Besides succeeded obtaining the IM norm, Aditya also pocketed two other certificates, which are  Best Junior and Best Nine.

Aditya won this achievement after defeating FM Ian Thompson from England in round 8, Saturday (29/10). After winning against FM Ian Thompson, Aditya continued to fight harder in round 9 because he had to face his senior, Grand Master (GM) Novendra Priasmoro, who had been UT’s fostered chess athlete earlier in the UT Inspiring Youth program. After a fierce match, Aditya managed to beat GM Novendra Priasmoro by collecting 6.5 points and attained 9^th rank. Due to his achievements, Aditya became the best chess player out of the nine chess players representing Indonesia.
