Vientiane, November 29, 2024 – As part of its dedication to supporting the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) vision in advancing technology-based vocational education, PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) participated in the ASEAN Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Conference 2024. The conference, held under the theme “Digital Transformation in TVET: Strengthening Personnel Capacities for the Future of Work,” reflects ASEAN’s commitment to transforming vocational education to address the global labor market challenges. Organized by the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Sports of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR), the event took place from November 28 to 29, 2024, in Vientiane, Laos.
The conference aims to strengthen vocational education capacity in ASEAN through digital technology, innovative learning, and cross-border collaboration. UT and Indonesia’s Ministry of Education contributed by presenting insights and sharing best practices on government-industry collaboration in education development.
“Collaboration between education and industry in ASEAN is a strategic step to produce vocational workers capable of addressing global labor market challenges. Through programs such as UT School and SOBAT (United Tractors Assisted Schools), the company aspires to continuously contribute to preparing Indonesian human resources to be more competent, technology-responsive, and aligned with future industry needs,” said Himawan Sutanto.
During the conference, UT highlighted its CSR initiatives in education (UT FUTURE), which involve collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Education. The initiatives focus on vocational education in heavy equipment through the UT School, a training institution for mechanics and heavy equipment operators under the UT Foundation (YKBUT). Other initiatives include implementing a Learning Management System (LMS) as a digital operator training model, partnerships with vocational schools through the SOBAT program involving 1,668 assisted schools and benefiting over 31,000 individuals, and the use of virtual reality (VR) and simulators for heavy equipment training, reducing carbon emissions by up to 90% during exercise.
The conference supports the implementation of the ASEAN Work Plan on Education 2021–2025, precisely output 4.3, which focuses on improving TVET quality through quality assurance, capacity building, innovation, and mobility to meet the changing demands of the labor market. The emphasis lies on knowledge exchange, experience sharing, digital capacity building, digital tools and technology innovation, and regional collaboration among countries.
Through this participation, UT reaffirmed its commitment to preparing vocational education graduates to meet the demands of global industrial development. UT remains dedicated to contributing to advancing and developing Indonesia’s human resources through education.
