Jakarta, 26 October 2023 – In commemoration of the Hari Sumpah Pemuda (Youth Pledge Day), PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) organized the UT Smart Educulture Fest 2023 with the theme “Beauty in Indonesia’s Cultural Diversity.” This festival manifests UT’s commitment to cultural preservation by celebrating diversity and fostering national and state awareness. Apart from that, this event aims to create an organizational value proposition for company sustainability through the implementation of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).
UT Smart Educulture Fest 2023 takes place from 1 September – to 27 October 2023, located at the UT Head Office, Jakarta. In this festival, UT collaborates with various parties, such as artists, MSMEplayers, and UT-forstered schools. This collaboration is UT’s effort to realize the 2030 Sustainability Aspiration, namely in the DEI aspect.
UT will continue to consistently build DEI in the Company’s internal and external environments. Participants at this event consisted of UT Group executives and employees, as well as Merdeka Belajar – Merdeka Campus (MBKM) students from 18 provinces, who were expected to participate in preserving cultural diversity and strengthening Indonesian unity.
Human Capital General Manager Abun Jufar Jaya said that diversity must be maintained in the Company environment. DEI principles must continue to be the basis for companies to sustain inclusivity.
“The cultural diversity in Indonesia is one of the unique things that we must be grateful for. As a company that has employees from various backgrounds, UT will always provide equal opportunities for all parties through the support and contributions provided. “Through this festival, it is hoped that we can increase awareness of diversity within the UT Group to create a company culture that upholds diversity,” said Abun Jufar Jaya.
UT organizesthis festival in reference to the fact that DEI aspects have major influence on organizations, based on research from The Wall Street Journal (2020)shows that diversity in organizations contributes to innovation and finance. This makes diversity one of UT Group’s Human Capital Management strategic goals for 2023 and 2024.
In its implementation, the agenda for this festival includes the diversity design competition, which is a diversity graphic design competition that is open to all UT Group employees and assisted schools. This competition successfully collected 390 works from 27 provinces in Indonesia. Besides, there was a design exhibition showing 50 of the best works, performance art, and a batik fashion show, which UT Group employees, MBKM students, and target schools attended. Then, there is an art market that displays local and traditional products from UT-assisted MSMEs.
Through this activity, it is hoped to increase awareness, enthusiasm, and commitment to diversity within the UT Group to increase collaboration and work productivity. Moreover, it can maintain commitment and perception regarding DEI-based sustainable business and increase the role of organizations in maintaining national unity and integrity through the diversity of Indonesian culture, which has an inclusive and nationalist character.
