United Tractors Attains The 2023 GOLD PROPER from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia

The 2023 GOLD PROPER Award was given by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia (KLHK).

Jakarta, December 20, 2023 – PT United Tractors Tbk (UT), with stock code UNTR, has successfully attained the GOLD ranking in the Company Performance Rating Program (PROPER) from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia (KLHK). This recognition is granted to UT for its consistent environmental management and sustainable community development efforts. The award was presented in person by the Vice President of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. (H.C.) K.H. Ma’ruf Amin, to UT’s Director, Edhie Sarwono, at the Bidakara Hotel in Jakarta.

The Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ma’ruf Amin, explained that the world is facing three environmental crises: climate change, loss of biodiversity, and environmental pollution. These issues need to be collectively addressed through sustainable development.

“PROPER serves as a platform for companies to participate in sustainable development. Resolving these issues requires the support of all stakeholders, such as the government, academia, communities, and business entities. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the PROPER award recipients. The winners inspire and motivate other companies to undertake similar initiatives in managing environmental sustainability in Indonesia,” stated Ma’ruf Amin.

PROPER is one of the government’s policies to improve companies’ environmental management performance by establishing regulations. Additionally, PROPER represents transparency and democratization in environmental management in Indonesia. Implementing this instrument is KLHK’s effort to apply some of the principles of good governance (transparency, fairness, accountability, and community engagement) in environmental management.

UT’s Director, Edhie Sarwono, emphasized that this accolade further motivates UT to enhance the Company’s performance in applying green industry principles and positively impacting the Indonesian community, aligning with UT Sustainability Aspiration 2030.

“This award proves that UT is highly committed to environmental management and community empowerment through implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance). This recognition also demonstrates the Company’s credibility, receiving acknowledgment from the government, especially KLHK, for UT’s commitment to achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs),” said Edhie Sarwono.

The PROPER assessment criteria consist of two categories: compliance assessment and assessment beyond compliance. These regulations adapt to technological developments, applying best environmental management practices and global environmental issues.

Companies are considered to meet these criteria if all their activities are covered by environmental management documents such as Environmental Impact Assessment (AMDAL), Environmental Management and Monitoring Documents (UKL/UPL), or other relevant management documents. Additionally, an assessment is conducted on the Company’s compliance in reporting on environmental management as required in AMDAL and UKL/UPL.

UT has implemented several concrete environmental and community empowerment initiatives to achieve the GOLD ranking in the PROPER award. UT regularly conducts Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) to ensure sustainability in environmental management. UT initiates various innovations in the natural resource category to reduce environmental hotspots or impacts by the conducted LCA. In its business operations, UT applies circular economic aspects.

As additional information, UT’s subsidiary, PT Agincourt Resources (PTAR), also obtained the PROPER award on the GREEN level. Through these awards, the UT Group will continue its commitment and take tangible actions to contribute positively to the environment and society for a better future for the nation.
