UT collaborated with BPBD DKI Jakarta to increase knowledge of disaster preparedness at the Tangguh Jakarta Exhibition.

PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) is collaborating with the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) to provide disaster response education to the community. In this collaboration, UT together with the DKI Jakarta BPBD conducted a disaster simulation located in RW 01, West Cakung, on (23/11/2023). This activity aims to measure, test, and improve the capabilities of the Disaster Preparedness Group (KSB) RW 01 in facing disasters.

UT through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program in the field of Disaster Mitigation, is committed to continuously assisting local governments in addressing the possibility of natural disasters and other emergencies. This activity is a continuation of the Disaster Resilient Village (KATANA) program that UT has consistently carried out to support the sustainability of communities in the company’s operational areas.

“Community preparedness is an important aspect of disaster mitigation. By conducting this training, we hope that more and more people will have the knowledge and skills to deal with disasters so that the community’s responsiveness in dealing with emergencies will be even greater,” said UT’s CSR Manager, Himawan Sutanto.

This disaster simulation was attended by 150 participants, consisting of members of the RW KSB Team, the DKI Jakarta BPBD joint team, Firefighters (Damkar), Puskesmas, and the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI). In addition, to support community preparedness, UT provided assistance to the DKI Jakarta BPBD in the form of Light Fire Extinguishers (APAR), helmets, vests, and boots.

The series of events consisted of a flood evacuation disaster simulation, a fire extinguishing simulation using wet towels and APAR, a first aid simulation for accidents, a citizen evacuation process using an ambulance, and a psychosocial session simulation involving children. Then, the event was closed with an award from the DKI Jakarta BPBD to UT for the KATANA program which became an example of neighborhood-level disaster preparedness in DKI Jakarta.

It is hoped that through this activity, education and literacy about disasters can be improved in the community so that a disaster-resilient community can be created that can carry out prevention and recovery in each area in a sustainable manner.
