Banjarmasin, October 6th 2022 – United Tractors (UT) Group collaborated with the Banjar Regency Government, South Kalimantan in planting 3,224 trees in Bukit Bandangan, Padang Panjang Village, Karang Intan District, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan. This tree planting is part of the commemoration of International Habitat Day and a manifestation of the Company’s commitment to implementing sustainable business practices in support of the government’s program to realize Emissions Reduction.

“This collaboration has very important role for the environmental ecosystem and it is hoped that it will continue to create better environmental conditions so that the benefits could impact the wider community,” said UT management representative, Adhytia Pratomo Saputro.

This activity is part of UT’s Environmental CSR program called UTREES which aims to reduce the impact of climate change and increase the value of the land quality index through preserving and improving the environment quality  around the Company’s operational areas. The planting of more than 3000 trees is part of the target of planting 50,000 trees in celebration of the 50th anniversary of UT.

The Regent of Banjar, Saidi Mansyur, who participated in trees planting together with UT and the surrounding community, hopes that this program can maintain the natural conditions around Banjar so that it can provide good benefits for the environment and its inhabitants.

“I really appreciate the planting of 3,224 trees as an effort to reduce the impact of climate change as well as a form of environmental conservation. This activity also involves the surrounding community so that we have a shared commitment to maintain what has been initiated so that it can run sustainably,” said Banjar Regent Saidi Mansyur.

This tree planting activity took place in eight villages, namely Padang Panjang Village, Kiram, Jingah Habang Ulu, Serangan River, Landas River, Central Rangas River, Sea Java, and West Mandikapau Village. The eight villages are included in Proklim Village, a national village program managed by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) in order to increase community involvement to prevent climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

In this program, UT uses types of seeds that have high economic value and have high absorption of carbon elements, including rambutan seeds, durian, jackfruit, soursop, sawokecik, avocado, longan, crystal guava, mangosteen, duku, mango, petai and ylang.

“We hope that through this tree planting, we can provide awareness and concern for the community about the importance of planting trees for living things, maintaining sustainability that functions for the environment, improving living habitat conditions, and preventing climate change,” said Head of the Banjar DPRKPLH, Mursal.

Supporting Desa Proklim program, UT Group is committed to contribute to the welfare and sustainability of the nation in all of its operational areas through sustainability initiative and ESG (Enviromental, Social and, Governance) implementation.
