PT Energia Prima Nusantara (EPN), a subsidiary of PT United Tractors Tbk (UT), signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) for a rooftop Solar Power Plant (PLTS) project. This collaboration represents a significant step in expanding renewable energy and a major environmental conservation and sustainable development effort. The signing ceremony took place at ADM’s headquarters in Jakarta.
Achmad Rizal Roesindrawan, Director of Business Development at EPN, stated that this collaboration demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting the transition to clean energy in Indonesia.
“This collaboration is a technological advancement and a legacy for future generations. The partnership with ADM demonstrates our commitment to continuously innovating to provide sustainable renewable energy solutions. We believe that this collaboration will bring significant benefits to both parties and the wider community,” said Achmad Rizal Roesindrawan.
The rooftop PLTS project marks the great trust ADM has placed in EPN. The installation of the rooftop PLTS will be carried out in three phases. The first phase involves installing a 63 kWp system. The second phase will have a capacity of 1.2 MWp, and the final phase will have a capacity of 3.2 MWp.
The total capacity of the rooftop PLTS expansion project undertaken by EPN and ADM is 8.1 MWp. This project is estimated to generate 10 GWh of electricity annually and reduce carbon emissions by approximately 8,500 tons of CO2 annually, equivalent to planting 300,000 trees.
The project implementation will take place at several ADM Karawang facilities, including Karawang Assembling Plant 2 with a capacity of 3.019 MWp, Karawang Assembling Plant 1 with an expanded capacity of 2.988 MWp, Karawang Engine Plant with an expanded capacity of 1.765 MWp, and Karawang Casting Plant with an expanded capacity of 0.5 MWp. All installations are expected to be completed between December 2024 and February 2025.
“We are very enthusiastic about this collaboration. Implementing solar panels at ADM’s factory facilities is concrete evidence of using clean and sustainable energy. This is part of our commitment to environmental preservation and supporting the company’s goals in achieving carbon neutrality,” said ADM President Director Yasushi Kyoda.
This collaboration is expected to enhance synergy and positive cooperation across industries, especially the automotive sector. Additionally, it aims to create a better future for Indonesia by increasing the supply of New Renewable Energy (EBT).
Energia Prima Nusantara’Overview
PT Energia Prima Nusantara (EPN) is a leading renewable energy company in Indonesia. It focuses on the development and implementation of green energy technologies, including rooftop Solar Power Plants (PLTS), Mini Hydro Power Plants (PLTM), Geothermal Power Plants (PLTP), and Waste-to-Energy Plants (PLTSa). EPN is committed to providing sustainable energy solutions and contributing to carbon emission reduction in Indonesia.
The total capacity of rooftop PLTS installed by EPN from 2018 to June 2024 is 17.3 MWp, with an additional 3.7 MWp in the installation process and 12.55 MWp awaiting permits from PLN.
In addition to rooftop PLTS, EPN is developing off-grid hybrid microgrid systems that combine Solar PV with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and diesel generators to reduce diesel fuel usage and CO2 emissions. Ongoing off-grid hybrid projects include installations at three Pama Group locations: PAMA BAYA with a capacity of 336 kWp and 60 kWh BESS, PAMA MTBU with a capacity of 615 kWp and 200 kWh BESS, and KPP INDEXIM with a capacity of 369 kWp and 200 kWh BESS. The total capacity of these projects is 1.3 MWp and 460 kWh BESS. In 2024, installations are planned at PAMA Teluk Timbau and PAMA BRCB, each with a capacity of 307 kWp and 200 kWh BESS.
The EPN group’s renewable energy-based IPP (Independent Power Producer) capacity includes several PLTM (Mini Hydro Power Plant) projects with a total operating capacity of 24.4 MW and 25.4 MW under construction, as well as the Rantau Dedap Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) with a capacity of 91.2 MW. Additionally, EPN is in the PPA negotiation stage for the Legok Nangka Waste-to-Energy Plant (PLTSa) project, with an estimated 30-40 MW capacity.
