Jakarta, December 10th,2022 – PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) held a series of webinars and free breast cancer ultrasounds check to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness. This activity aims to increase awareness of breast cancer and support the reduction of breast cancer prevalence in Indonesia.
UT through the UTCARE Health CSR program (United Tractors for Community Health Responsibility) and the Employee Health Management program in collaboration with the Daya Dara Indonesia Foundation (Love Pink) held an educational webinar on early detection of breast cancer with the theme “Early Detection Saves Lives” on Tuesday, November 1th,2022. This webinar is UT’s contribution to creating prosperity and sustainability for the people of Indonesia in all of its operational areas through the implementation of the principles of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).
This webinar presented Deputy Chairperson of Love Pink, Tri Oetami and Secretary of Love Pink, Fertina Tarasari as speakers who discussed the importance of early detection of breast cancer and procedures for examinations that can be done independently. This webinar was also attended by 120 participants from the fostered community under the auspices of UT’s CSR and UT employees.
“Breast cancer generally has no symptoms, so we need to have the awareness to detect breast cancer, both by ourselves and clinically. Early detection will reduce the number of patients who die from breast cancer. In addition, we need to avoid risk factors for breast cancer by adopting a healthy lifestyle,” said Tri Oetami.
Apart from the webinar, UT also held a free breast cancer ultrasound check which took place at the UT Polyclinic on October 12 and 19,2022, as well as November 10, 2022. This activity is UT’s support for the movement of 10,000 free breast cancer ultrasounds check initiated by Love Pink.
Through this activity, UT aims to expand access for women with financial limitations in Indonesia to have the opportunity to carry out clinical detection and prevent breast cancer risk factors from an early age. In practice, this free breast health screening service was provided to 200 posyandu cadres assisted by UT and implemented in stages over the November period.
“Most women have the potential to develop breast cancer and this disease has a fairly high fatality rate. For this reason, UT is here to contribute through a series of activities that are expected to increase awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer. By carrying out this activity, we hope to create a better future for Indonesian women,” said UT’s Head of Corporate Governance and Sustainability Division, Sara K. Loebis.
The collaboration between UT and Love Pink is based on the same vision, which suppressing breast cancer cases at an advanced level. Love Pink is a non-profit organization that focuses on outreach activities for early detection through SADARI (Breast Self-Examination), SADANIS (Clinical Breast Examination), and assistance for fellow women with breast cancer.
Through this collaboration, UT hopes that many women in Indonesia will become more aware of the risk of breast cancer and be able to take the necessary preventive steps so it can reduce the death rate.
