Bandung, June 28 2024 – PT Jabar Environmental Solutions (JES) signs a Cooperation Agreement with the West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) and PT Penjaminan Infrastruktur Indonesia (PII) to manage the Regional Legok Nangka Landfill Facility (TPPAS). The signing ceremony took place at the Gedung Sate, Bandung City. This cooperation marks a significant step towards enhancing waste management and developing sustainable environmental solutions in West Java by implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects.

According to the agreement, JES will hold the concession to operate the facility for 20 years, starting from the Commercial Operation Date (COD) projected in February 2029. The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, and the Senior Advisor to the Minister of the Environment of Japan attended and witnessed the signing of the agreement.

This collaboration demonstrates the commitment of the Governments of Indonesia and Japan to reducing global carbon emissions, including accelerating efforts to achieve Net Zero Emissions. The Legok Nangka project is a waste processing and disposal facility serving six West Java Province municipalities: Bandung City, Bandung Regency, Sumedang Regency, Cimahi City, Garut Regency, and West Bandung Regency. Once completed, the facility will have a capacity of approximately 2,000 tons per day with a target electricity production of 40 Megawatts (MW).

According to the acting Governor of West Java Province, who is also the Government Contracting Agency (GCA), Bey Machmudin, “The Regional Legok Nangka TPPS project is the West Java Provincial Government’s attempt towards a more eco-friendly and unpolluted future. This collaboration paves the way for advanced waste management and sustainable development in the Greater Bandung area.”

The Legok Nangka Project is expected to become a model for waste management that other regions in Indonesia can adopt. JES and the West Java Provincial Government will continue collaborating to oversee and implement this project and achieve optimal results.

PT Energia Prima Nusantara Overview

Established on February 28, 2014, the company supplied integrated electrical energy to the coal sector and supporting infrastructure. It owned and operated the PAMA-1 open-pit mine power plant with a capacity of 2×15 MW in Kapuas Regency, Central Kalimantan. The power plant has become the electricity supplier for PAMA Group’s Mining Cluster Improvement Program (MCIP) under the Electricity Business Area Scheme (“WUK”). In 2018, the new stream business shifted its focus to the Renewable Energy sector, beginning with the systematic Provision of Rooftop Solar Power Plants (PLTS) totaling 17 MW with installation progress also at 17 MWp. This effort included Mini Hydro Power Plants (PLTM) developed by EPN through PT Uway Energi Perdana for the PLTM Besai Kemu Project, boasting a capacity of 7 MW, and through its subsidiary PT Arkora Hydro Tbk. Furthermore, PT Bina Pertiwi Energi, another EPN subsidiary, developed the distribution transmission network. Additionally, EPN finalized the acquisition of a new business, the Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) Geothermal Project PT Supreme Energy Rantau Dedap in South Sumatra, which has a capacity of 91.2 MW.

ESG Energia Prima Nusantara

As a company operating in the electricity sector in Indonesia, EPN acknowledges the vital role of environmental aspects in the energy business journey and is committed to providing environmentally friendly electricity. In supporting ESG programs in the coal-fired power business, EPN strategically takes steps to accelerate the implementation of Co-Firing Biomass by producing and incorporating a 3% woodchip and sawdust blend from the total fuel consumption (coal) used. This is an effort to reduce carbon in the PLTU surroundings. Waste management, both hazardous and non-hazardous, follows the 3R principle: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. One significant waste management effort involves utilizing Fly Ash and Bottom Ash to create economically valuable products such as concrete and paving blocks.
