Malang, November 21, 2024 – PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) continually strives to improve the community’s welfare around its operational areas. This time, UT emphasized its commitment by inauguring the Empowered Village, UT Disaster Resilient Foster School (SOBAT TANGGUH), and the Sumbergondo Village Communal Sheep Farming Pen. UT’s Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Himawan Sutanto, and the Acting Mayor of Batu, Aries Agung Paewai, officially opened this event in Sumbergondo Village, Bumiaji District, Batu City, East Java.
“We express our gratitude for the collaboration between UT and the Sumbergondo Village community. Hopefully, the Empowered Village, the SOBAT TANGGUH program, and the Sumbergondo Village Communal Sheep Farming Pen will further provide opportunities for Sumbergondo Village residents to optimize village potential and community empowerment through the creation of sustainable added value,” Aries Agung Paewai said.
The Empowered Village Program is a government program that aims to create an empowered community through recovery and a strong economy by developing thematic villages. In this program, UT supports the sustainability of its program through the Unity Village, which is one of the village empowerment programs through UT’s five pillars of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Education, Health, Environment, Entrepreneurship, and Disaster by prioritizing community-based potential. SOBAT TANGGUH and the construction of the Communal Sheep Farming Pen are examples of the implementation of this program.
On the other hand, the SOBAT TANGGUH program is a disaster prevention and mitigation program in educational institutions that aims to create a safe learning environment from disasters and build the independence of academic units in dealing with disasters. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for this program was carried out on (10/21/2024), marking the program’s start at SDN Sumbergondo 02. The reason for choosing SDN 02 Sumbergondo is because it is one of the schools located in the Sumbergondo Village area, which is at risk of flooding and landslides, so it is necessary to carry out SOBAT TANGGUH activities to prepare resilient educational units that are ready to face disasters.
In addition, UT also shows its commitment to developing rural communities by constructing a Communal Sheep Farming Pen in the Tanah Kas area of Sumbergondo Village, Batu City, with a land area of 7m x 12m. This program aims to improve the economy of rural communities through the utilization of the village’s unused land. This collaboration was motivated by the condition of Sumbergondo Village, which is one of the areas that manages organic waste in animal feed.
In its implementation, this event was attended by the Head of the Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, Child Control, Population Control, and Family Planning Service, Ririk Mashuri; Head of the Cooperatives, SMEs, Industry and Trade Service of Kota Baru, Aries Setiawan; Representative of the East Java Provincial DPMD, Dhani S. Soetopo, Head of the Cooperatives, UMKM, Industry and Trade Service of Kota Baru; Heru Yulianto; Head of the Batu City BPBD, Agung Sedayu; Bumiaji Sub-district Head, Thomas Maydo; Sumbergondo Village Head, Hadi Purwanto; the representative of Bank Jatim; Bumiaji Police Chief; Bumiaji Military Rayon Commander (Danramil); and the Sumbergondo Village Farmers Group Association (Gapoktan).
With various initiatives carried out, UT hopes to continue supporting social and economic development in the region. This is consistent with UT’s commitment to creating welfare, community sustainability, and economic growth in Indonesia.
