Improve the Quality of Education for Vocational Schools in Indonesia, United Tractors Won the 2022 IDX Channel CSR Award

Jakarta, December 1st,2022 – PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) won the IDX Channel Anugerah CSR Award 2022 in the Social Development Initiative category with the CSR program “Vocational Transformative Model Through Digitalization of SOBAT”. This award was presented directly on Wednesday (09/11), at the Main Hall of the Indonesia Stock Exchange, South Jakarta. Through its CSR program in the field of education (UTFUTURE), UT consistently strives to deliver contribute to Indonesia’s sustainable education through ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) implementation.

“In carrying out a CSR program it is not only about the intention, but there are several things that we must pay attention to such as guidelines, standards, and governance. In running a business, every company needs to pay attention to the 3P (profit, people, and planet). Other things must be given special attention, not only prioritizing the interests of the company, apart from that, there are people and the environment that must be considered,” said Director of Development for the Indonesia Stock Exchange, Jefry Hendrik.

UTFUTURE aims to answer problems encountered by Vocational Higher Education and Vocational Higher Education Institutions, that suffer lag in development of human resources due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, based on reports from UT’s target schools (SOBAT), there are more than 1200 SMKs and Polytechnics throughout Indonesia having problems in fulfilling data and information that has not been integrated so it becomes less effective.

On the other hand, the SOBAT CSR program aims to increase the capacity of schools that are competitive, resilient, and have an impact on the surrounding area. In particular, this program aims is to carry out a link and match between the world of vocational education and the industrial world, as well as increase the absorption of young workers to reduce the unemployment rate in Indonesia.

“The achievements by UT  encouraged us to deliver a wider contribution to Indonesia through the 5 pillars of CSR that UT carries out, which are in the fields of education, health, economy, environment, and disaster. This is one of the strategic efforts in running a sustainable business. The CSR program will be faithfully implemented leading to medium and long-term programs. Through this program, we are determined to be part of the solution to community problems,” said UT’s CSR Manager, Himawan Sutanto.

With the CSR initiatives that UT has implemented, Himawan hopes that UT, as the leading distributor of heavy equipment in Indonesia, will be able to have a significant impact on improving the quality of education for Vocational Higher Education and Vocational Higher Education Institutions so that it can help reduce the national unemployment rate. In addition, optimism and enthusiasm for doing various CSR programs can also continue to positive impact on the sustainability of society in Indonesia.

The IDX Channel Anugerah CSR Award 2022 is an appreciation event for companies that carry out Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) properly, effectively, and innovatively in Indonesia. This year’s carrying theme is “Orchestrating Integrated CSR Initiatives to Accelerate Economic Recovery”. The event, which has been held twice, was attended by 30 companies with 60 proposals for CSR programs from various sectors.

Assessment indicators for this award are based on 3 main aspects, which are compliant with ISO: 2600 regarding social responsibility, aspects of GCG (Good Corporate Governance), and aspects of alignment of CSR programs with business strategy and competitiveness. The jury involved in the assessment, namely the Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir as an honorary jury; Chairperson of the National Governance Policy Committee (KNKG), Achmad Daniri; PPM Management Transformation and Innovation Strategy Researcher, Wahyu T Setyobudi; and Chairman of the Jakarta CSR Forum, Mahir Yahya Bayasut.
