PT Energia Prima Nusantara (EPN), a subsidiary of PT United Tractors Tbk (UT), also part of the Astra Group, demonstrates its commitment to sustainability by actively participating in the LIKE 2 Festival. This event was organized by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia (LHK) which took place at the Jakarta Convention Center on (10/08/2024). EPN participated in this event as an essential momentum to demonstrate its strategic role in supporting new renewable energy in Indonesia.
The Minister of Environment and Forestry, Siti Nurbaya, also visited the Astra booth and expressed gratitude for the Company’s contribution to the national sustainability agenda. “I thank the Astra Group for participating in the LIKE 2 Festival. Hopefully, the Company can consistently care about sustainability through various initiatives,” said Siti Nurbaya.
Through United Tractors 2030 Sustainability Aspirations, EPN strives to develop various innovations focusing on sustainability in its business lines. On this occasion, EPN displayed solar panels, one of the Company’s genuine contributions to sustainable renewable energy development.
Currently, EPN has shown significant progress in the renewable energy sector because it has successfully operated a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) with a capacity of 17 MWp. In addition, EPN has successfully run a 91.2 MW geothermal power plant and a 24.4 MW mini-hydro power plant. This is a concrete step by EPN in supporting a better future.
“So far, EPN has established a renewable energy business with PLTS, Geothermal Power Plants, and Mini-Hydro Power Plants. With this, EPN will continue to expand in the development of renewable energy, soon, it will build a Hydrogen Plant and a Waste to Energy Power Plant. Through this festival, EPN also wants to provide space for the public to understand the importance of the renewable energy transition and encourage collaboration between the government and private companies,” said EPN Corporate Communications, Afrizal Faisal Ali.
The Company’s participation in the LIKE 2 Festival is intended to introduce products and services and demonstrate its commitment to advancing the national sustainability agenda. By continuing to carry the United Tractors 2030 Sustainability Aspirations, EPN hopes to be a pioneer in creating a better and more sustainable future for all Indonesian people.
Energia Prima Nusantara’Overview
PT Energia Prima Nusantara (EPN) is a leading renewable energy company in Indonesia. It focuses on the development and implementation of green energy technologies, including rooftop Solar Power Plants (PLTS), Mini Hydro Power Plants (PLTM), Geothermal Power Plants (PLTP), and Waste-to-Energy Plants (PLTSa). EPN is committed to providing sustainable energy solutions and contributing to carbon emission reduction in Indonesia.
The total capacity of rooftop PLTS installed by EPN from 2018 to June 2024 is 17.3 MWp, with an additional 3.7 MWp in the installation process and 12.55 MWp awaiting permits from PLN.
In addition to rooftop PLTS, EPN is developing off-grid hybrid microgrid systems that combine Solar PV with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and diesel generators to reduce diesel fuel usage and CO2 emissions. Ongoing off-grid hybrid projects include installations at three Pama Group locations: PAMA BAYA with a capacity of 336 kWp and 60 kWh BESS, PAMA MTBU with a capacity of 615 kWp and 200 kWh BESS, and KPP INDEXIM with a capacity of 369 kWp and 200 kWh BESS. The total capacity of these projects is 1.3 MWp and 460 kWh BESS. In 2024, installations are planned at PAMA Teluk Timbau and PAMA BRCB, each with a capacity of 307 kWp and 200 kWh BESS.
The EPN group’s renewable energy-based IPP (Independent Power Producer) capacity includes several PLTM (Mini Hydro Power Plant) projects with a total operating capacity of 24.4 MW and 25.4 MW under construction, as well as the Rantau Dedap Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) with a capacity of 91.2 MW. Additionally, EPN is in the PPA negotiation stage for the Legok Nangka Waste-to-Energy Plant (PLTSa) project, with an estimated 30-40 MW capacity.
