Early Disaster Preparedness Education: United Tractors, BNPB, and Seknas SPAB Collaborate on Workshop for Educational Institutions Across Indonesia

In preparation for the commemoration of the National Disaster Preparedness Day (HKBN) 2025, PT United Tractors Tbk (UT), together with the National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB) and the National Secretariat for Safe Schools (Seknas SPAB), organizes a Workshop and Socialization of the 2025 National Disaster Preparedness Day. The event takes place online on April 16, 2025. Carrying the theme “Building Preparedness from an Early Age,” this program aims to enhance the understanding and awareness of educational institutions regarding the importance of fostering a culture of disaster preparedness through the implementation of independent evacuation drills within schools. Over 1,000 academic institutions from various levels across Indonesia participate in this activity.

Additionally, the event features remarks from the Director of Preparedness of BNPB, Pangarso Suryotomo; the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education of Indonesia, Prof. Abdul Mu’ti; Acting Head of General Affairs and Procurement Bureau, Seknas SPAB Kemdikdasmen, Herdiana; and the Head of Corporate Governance and Sustainability Division of UT, Sara K. Loebis, all of whom emphasize the importance of cultivating disaster awareness within the school environment.

The workshop presents experienced speakers, including the Chairman of the Indonesian Disaster Management Society (MPBI) and CEO of Predikt, Avianto Amri, as well as representatives from BNPB’s Directorate of Preparedness, Iis Yulianti and Jati Dwi Putra. The materials cover the steps for conducting school evacuation drills and the mechanism for the national simultaneous drill scheduled for April 26, 2025.

This event’s participants include school principals, teachers, and education administrators, demonstrating educators’ strong awareness and enthusiasm for actively contributing to building disaster preparedness in their respective school environments. Through this initiative, UT, BNPB, and Seknas SPAB hope that participants become agents of change within their educational institutions, disseminating knowledge and practices of disaster preparedness in a sustainable manner.
