Committed in Implementing ESG Principles, United Tractors Receives IDX Channel CSR Award 2023

Jakarta, November 28, 2023 – PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) has been awarded the IDX Channel CSR Award 2023 in the Environmental Development Initiative category for its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program “Kampung UniTy.” The award was presented to UT directly by the IDX Channel at the Main Hall of the Indonesia Stock Exchange, South Jakarta. Through this program, UT consistently strives to positively impact the environment and society in line with sustainable business practices and ESG (Environmental, Social, & Governance) principles.

Jeffrey Hendrik, Director of Development at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), stated that the award is an appreciation for companies that have implemented CSR initiatives positively affecting business, society, and the environment during economic recovery.

“The appreciation given to these companies shows that CSR is not just about charity but a corporate strategy on how the corporation grows while empowering communities and the environment. Moreover, investment decisions made by investors are not solely based on financial factors but also on how companies pay attention to society and the environment and various sustainability-related aspects,” said Jeffrey Hendrik.

UT formed Kampung UniTy as a concrete step in maintaining community social, health, economic, and environmental values. This village is an empowerment program through UT’s 5 CSR Pillars (Education, Health, Environment, Entrepreneurship, and Disaster) focusing on community-based potential. Kampung UniTy, located on the slopes of Mount Arjuno, East Java, focuses on improving the community’s economy through eco-tourism development.

The community empowerment program has been ongoing since 2022. Through this program, UT has established and fostered SME groups, provided digitization of health facilities in integrated health posts and community health centers, and managed waste to preserve the beauty and cleanliness of the environment. Additionally, UT has initiated reforestation programs for critical forests in the Mount Arjuno area.

“This is one of the strategic efforts in pursuing sustainable business. The CSR program will be implemented seriously, leading towards medium and long-term programs. Through this program, we hope to be part of the solution to community issues,” stated Himawan Sutanto, CSR Manager at UT.

The award is based on three main aspects of evaluation: compliance with social responsibility, Good Corporate Governance (GCG), and aligning CSR programs with business strategy and competitiveness. The judging panel included the Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, Teten Masduki as an honorary judge; Chairman of the Indonesian GRC Association, Mas Achmad Daniri; Global Business Marketing Researcher at BINUS Business School, Wahyu T. Setyobudi; Professor at the University of Indonesia, Wiku Adisasmito; and Chairman of the Corporate Forum for CSR Development, Thendri Supriatno.

The IDX Channel CSR Award 2023 is an appreciation event for companies implementing CSR effectively and innovatively in Indonesia. This year’s theme is “Enhancing CSR Strategy to Drive Impactful Transformation.” The event, now in its third edition, was participated in by 37 companies proposing 47 CSR programs from various sectors.

Through this award, UT is motivated to continue making a tangible contribution to improving the quality of the environment and society around its business, strengthening its commitment to collaborate with various stakeholders.
