To Commemorating International Volunteer Day, PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) and its subsidiary, PT Bina Pertiwi (BP) and Yayasan Karya Bakti UT (YKBUT) collaborated with the Jakarta Provincial Government to officially inaugurate the Integrated Outstanding Green Open Space (RTH) in the Duren Sawit area on (06/01/2024). Through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program in the environmental field (UTREES), UT initiated this project to improve the environmental quality in densely populated residential areas in the capital city.
The RTH serves as a recreational open space and an environmental education center to raise awareness about the importance of nature preservation. This project is tangible evidence of collective efforts to create a green, comfortable, and educational space in the city.
In his address, UT’s CSR Manager, Himawan Sutanto, expressed that UT will continue its efforts to provide positive impacts for the surrounding community, one of which is through the RTH in the Duren Sawit area. This program aligns with UT’s commitment to environmental preservation following the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and implementation.
“We, as a company, will always support all policies of the central and regional governments. The development of this RTH is a valuable initiative in the capital, where the massive construction of high-rise buildings and the dense housing of the population make social spaces increasingly limited. By introducing the RTH in the Duren Sawit area, it is hoped to become a place for interaction among residents and positively impact environmental preservation efforts,” said Himawan Sutanto.
The inauguration of the Duren Sawit RTH was symbolically conducted with a tumpeng cutting. Additionally, various physical activities were held with the local community, including cycling with hobby clubs (SEMUT UT & OMC). This was followed by Aerobic Exercise with 65 residents and 20 Special Olympics Indonesia (SOINA) athletes from DKI Jakarta Province. UT focused on fitness aspects and organized a free medical treatment program for 100 residents, mostly elderly, in collaboration with the UT Primary Clinic. The inauguration concluded with the symbolic planting of medicinal plants by representatives from UT, YKBUT, and hobbies clubs.
UT remains committed to contributing to the well-being and sustainability of Indonesian communities in all its operational areas. The company hopes that through these activities, all parties can collaborate to collectively care for green open space facilities, especially in the East Jakarta region.
