Aditya Bagus Arfan, an International Master (IM) and young chess player fostered by United Tractors (UT), received two runner-up awards for the Pattaya Open 2024 at the Pacific Place Mall Sriracha Ballroom, Chonburi, Thailand.

Young chess athlete fostered by PT United Tractors Tbk (UT), International Master (IM) Aditya Bagus Arfan (2405) has again achieved in the 2024 Pattaya Open Chess tournament. Fifty-eight chess players from 21 countries attended this tournament, and there were four main categories: Open, Senior, Amateur, and Youth for participants aged 8 – 16. Aditya became the Open category’s Indonesian delegate and won two trophies. This 10-day competition occurred from October 9–18, 2024, at the Pacific Place Mall Sriracha Ballroom in Chonburi, Thailand.

“We are so proud of Aditya’s achievements in this tournament. This victory proves that UT accommodates a conducive environment for the younger generation to compete. Hopefully, through the UT Inspiring Youth program, the Company can continue to support young athletes in achieving achievements in the national and international arenas,” said UT’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Manager, Himawan Sutanto.

As a result, Aditya became runner-up in the standard chess and blitz chess numbers, winning 1,100 US dollars. In the standard chess match, he collected 6.5 points from 6 wins, 1 draw, and 2 losses. Meanwhile, in the blitz chess number, he recorded 9.5 points from 11 rounds with 9 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss.

Despite winning the title in this match, Aditya’s overall Elo rating dropped by 1.6 to 2403 due to his opponent’s higher total Elo rating. However, to increase his points, Aditya has participated in a national tournament in Tarakan, North Kalimantan, and received an additional 14.3 Elo rating points. As a result, the International Chess Federation (FIDE) will publish an overall elo rating of 2418 points. Aditya increasingly leads to the Grandmaster (GM) title with this achievement.

This achievement proves UT’s commitment to providing full support to develop young Indonesian athletes through the corporate social responsibility (CSR) program “UT Inspiring Youth”.  Hopefully, this will inspire other young generations to make Indonesia proud on the global stage. The support provided by UT is an implementation of the Company’s commitment to apply environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles in developing human resources (HR) in its programs. This aligns with the Company’s commitment to creating prosperity and sustainability for the Indonesian people in all its operational areas.
