Semarang, January 31, 2024 – PT United Tractors Tbk (UT) signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Agriculture at Diponegoro University (UNDIP) at the RSG Building F, UNDIP, Semarang. This MoU focuses on conserving the Timor Deer and biodiversity, promoting sustainability, and creating a positive environmental impact.

In his speech, UT’s CSR Manager, Himawan Sutanto, states that this collaboration is part of the Company’s efforts to preserve the biodiversity potential around Semarang. This program focuses on protecting and managing biodiversity and aims to raise public awareness about the importance of environmental conservation.

“We warmly welcome this collaboration, as it not only directly contributes to biodiversity conservation but also opens up opportunities for scientific development in conservation studies. This is an important step in realizing sustainable development goals through implementing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles, particularly in environmental preservation,” says Himawan Sutanto.

The main programs outlined in the MoU between UT and UNDIP focus on conserving the Timor Deer and rare fruit plants. The Timor Deer is a rare and protected species under Indonesian law to prevent extinction. In this initiative, UT supports the management of the Timor Deer Park by providing deer feed, enclosures, park maintenance, and facility management. The park houses 60 Timor Deer, which are cared for and preserved.

In addition to signing the MoU, UT also donates 300 rare tree seedlings and participates in a tree-planting event on the UNDIP campus. UT’s involvement in this program benefits flora and fauna conservation, provides opportunities for UNDIP students to conduct relevant environmental research, and enhances collaboration with the local community through educational and conservation training activities.

“We highly appreciate the collaboration between FPP UNDIP and UT in the conservation of Timor Deer and biodiversity preservation. As one of the leading universities in environmental studies, UNDIP is committed to fulfilling its role in maintaining a sustainable ecosystem. UT’s support in preserving Timor Deer and rare plants is highly valuable. We hope this collaboration benefits both parties and contributes to a more sustainable environment,” says the Dean of FPP UNDIP, Prof. Sugiharto, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D.

The event also sees attendance from UNDIP’s Vice Rector IV, Wijayanto, S.IP., M.Si., Ph.D.; Head of UNDIP’s SDGs Center, Prof. Dr. Denny Nugroho S., S.T., M.Si.; and UT Semarang Branch Head, Hartanto Dwi Kurniawan. Through this collaboration, UT hopes that all social and environmental contributions are effectively beneficial and provide added value to stakeholders and the community. Therefore, cooperation and integration between the academic and industrial sectors are crucial in addressing future environmental and social challenges.
