For its consistent efforts in conserving the peatland ecosystem, PT Tuah Turangga Agung (Turangga Resources), a subsidiary of PT United Tractors Tbk (UT), received the Adi Niti award from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK). Turangga Resources won this “Partner in Special Purpose Forest Area Management” (KHDTK) category award. The award was presented by Minister LHK, Prof. Dr. Ir. Siti Nurbaya, to the Director of Turangga Resources, BJ Basuki, during the 2024 Environmental and Forestry Standards Week (PeSTA) event at the Manggala Wanabakti Building, Jakarta, on (09/10/2024).
“The award given to Turangga Resources reflects the commitment and consistency of all management and employees in sustainable environmental management. This award recognizes the company’s hard work and dedication, which focuses on environmental conservation and serves as a platform for education and research for the community,” said Director of Turangga Resources, BJ Basuki.
The assessment indicators for this award category included the completeness of partnership documents, activity implementation reports, institutional legality, management structure, capital, documentation, success rate, and efforts made by stakeholders in managing KHDTK based on standards from the Environmental and Forestry Instrument Standardization Agency (BSILHK), and benefits for the environment, economy, and society.
The company’s program included the Peat Science and Technology Information Center (Camppeat) KHDTK Tumbang Nusa in Central Kalimantan, inaugurated by the Minister of KLHK on April 20, 2024. This information center is an integrated facility that provides scientific information, practical laboratories, and scientific tourism, aiming to fill the gap in national and international references on peat in Indonesia.
Adi Niti is an award given to businesses, community groups, and partners of BSILHK in recognition of their performance in Environment and Forestry (LHK). The main highlight of this event is the implementation of environmental standards to address the future challenges of climate change. Additionally, the event emphasizes the role of KLHK in supporting the implementation of the Job Creation Law (UUCK) while maintaining an environmental sustainability perspective.
This award will further motivate Turangga Resources to sustainably conserve the environment and manage natural resources (SDA). Additionally, this information center can serve as a foundation for sustainable development in Indonesia’s peatland ecosystem, aligning with the company’s commitment to safeguarding the planet’s future in response to various sustainability challenges.
