Planting 10,000 mangrove trees was carried out by Kalimantan Prima Persada Mining and students in Semarang.

PT Kalimantan Prima Persada (KPP Mining) once again demonstrates its commitment to the environment by planting 10,000 mangrove trees in the coastal areas of Mangkang Wetan and Mangunharjo sub-districts. These areas are KPP Mining’s primary focus for ongoing mangrove planting. The urgent status of abrasion in Semarang is the main reason for planting in these areas. This activity is carried out twice on July 2nd and 4th, 2024.

The first mangrove planting on July 2nd is carried out with volunteers consisting of employees, employee families, elementary school students from the surrounding coastal areas, and students from Diponegoro University. Subsequently, the second planting was carried out on July 4th, with KPP Mining involving company management. This activity aims to strengthen fishpond embankments, absorb residual chemical fertilizers, and provide natural feed. In its implementation, this activity involved a total of 105 mangrove planters.

The type of mangrove planted in this activity is Rhizophora. This type is chosen because of its function in repelling ocean waves and its potential to become a habitat and food source for various living creatures. Continuous planting is a form of implementing the company’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. This activity will positively impact the environment and the sustainability of the coastal community in Semarang in the future.
