Energia Prima Nusantara and Kalimantan Prima Persada inaugurated The PLTS Smart Micro at KPP INDE East Kalimantan.

Kutai Timur, May 30, 2024 – PT Energia Prima Nusantara (EPN) and PT Kalimantan Prima Persada (KPP Mining), subsidiaries of PT United Tractors Tbk (UT), have inaugurated a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) at one of KPP Mining’s job sites in Kaliorang District, Kutai Timur, East Kalimantan. This PLTS installation is inaugurated and aligns with EPN and KPP Mining’s commitment to implementing New and Renewable Energy (NRE) businesses. In addition, this inauguration is a form of the company’s efforts to continue consistently developing its green energy business portfolio by building PLTS installations to support the operational efficiency of the coal business.

“Currently, EPN is committed to applying sustainability principles in all its business operations by inviting stakeholders in the mining industry to implement clean energy in terms of environmental, economic, social, and good governance aspects. The installation of this solar panel technology is also a real manifestation of the company’s competence and dedication to create a better sustainable future through decarbonizing coal mining operations,” said EPN’s Director of Engineering and Operations, Eko Harry Ariadin.

In the collaboration, EPN is trusted to fulfill KPP Mining’s clean energy needs in the PLTS installation project at the INDE job site with a capacity of 369.36 kWp, or equivalent to reducing 217 tons of CO2 per year. The KPP INDE PLTS concept is a Smart Micro Grid concept combined with batteries, and it is the second time it has been implemented in Indonesia. By applying a Photovoltaic (PV) to Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) ratio of 2:1 to its system, it can increase the proportion of renewable energy by 30% through the same BESS configuration.

“The rapid advancement of technology spurs us all to work together to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). One is choosing PLTS as a power generation source, inaugurated today. This is a form of the company’s contribution to implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) to create sustainable businesses,” said the President Director of KPP Mining, Wahyu Widaryanto.

The inauguration of the PLTS was also attended by the President Director of KPP Mining, Wahyu Widaryanto; Director of Engineering & Operation of EPN, Eko Harry Ariadin; Director of Business Development (BD) of EPN, Achmad Rizal Roesindrawan; Director of PT Indexim Coalindo, Anderson Ichwan; Senior Commercial Manager of PT Indexim Coalindo, Herianto; Project Manager (PM) KPP INDE, Pitra Darmana; Mining Engineering Manager of PT Indexim Coalindo, Hendrato Agung G; and Supervisory Board of PT Pamapersada Nusantara (PAMA), Agus Dwi W.

It is hoped that this collaboration between EPN and KPP Mining can increase positive synergy and collaboration to create a sustainable future by reducing carbon emission usage in coal mining operational areas. In addition, this collaboration is also an effort to preserve Indonesia’s environment for a better future for the nation’s generations.
