In line with its environmentally business development strategy, United Tractors is focusing on the New and Renewable Energy (NRE) sector as part of its energy transition plan. The company has conducted extensive studies, reviews, and project implementations in this segment.
First, United Tractors’ subsidiary, PT Energia Prima Nusantara (EPN), spearheads solar photovoltaic technology development. EPN has installed solar PV systems totaling 1.2MWp for companies within the UT and Astra groups. The company aims to install an additional 10MWp by the end of 2022 and increase capacity in subsequent years.
Furthermore, United Tractors is partnering with experienced hydropower companies to study the development of several Hydro Power Plant projects in Sumatra and Sulawesi. The targeted projects are having capacity exceeding 10MW each.
For smaller capacity plant, the Company has successfully built two Mini-hydro Power Plants: the 0.5MW capacity namely PLTMH Kalipelus in Central Java and the 7MW capacity namely PLTM Besai Kemu in Lampung (currently under construction and expected to operate by the end of 2022). In addition, several other PLTM projects are under development in Sumatra, with a potential combined capacity of over 18MW.
Aside from Renewable Energy projects, the Company is actively exploring additional renewable energy options, including Floating Solar PV, Wind Power Generation (PLTB), Hybrid Solar PV with Battery Storage, and Waste to Energy. Studies, reviews, and MoUs are underway to develop these projects.
The company also holds a 25% ownership stake in the Tanjung Jati B Power Plant (PLTU) units 5 and 6 in Jepara Regency, Central Java.
